Samuel Morales Urbina was born in Guatemala City. He and his family immigrated to San Antonio in 1994. Samuel’s work utilizes organic and geometric shapes and forms with heavy use of line and bold colors. His stylized pieces are influenced by indigenous folk and textile art from his native Guatemala as well as by his background in graffiti and graphic design. With his paintings, prints, and drawings, he aims to express personal and vicarious experiences of being an immigrant. In his latest works, he attempts to personify through fauna, different human emotions related to migration.
