Foráneo, 2013
Foráneo consists of 40 original, one of a kind, India ink works on paper. The series references fauna found in Guatemala and is inspired by Virgilio Rodríguez Macal's novel La Mansión del Pájaro Serpiente. The series aims to connote the strange or unfamiliar perception of these animals to the experiences of being a foreigner or immigrant.
The title of each piece is in Kaqchikel language according to the animal names found in La Mansión del Pájaro Serpiente. The Spanish translation is also written according to the book.
